Mohammad Amir IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. Amir says he was looking to try and extract any swing that was on offer and just by hitting the right areas he got rewarded with wickets. Mentions that he did adapt to the conditions well and that helped him contribute to the team's cause. Closes by saying that they have an outstanding bowling unit and they are performing collectively which is the best part.
The skipper of Desert Vipers, Lockie Ferguson says he felt a sprain in the ankle when he walked off and he will assess his condition and will decide on participation in the next game. Mentions that they played a perfect game both with the bat and ball. Closes by saying the slip-up in the previous game was nothing to do with the outside voice and it was just an off-day for them.
The skipper of Sharjah Warriorz, Tim Southee is up for a chat and he says such a game hurts but they'll dust themselves off and go again. Earlier, the Sharjah Warriorz were skittled out for 91, with Jason Roy's 30 being the only notable contribution. Mohammad Amir (4/16) and Wanindu Hasaranga (3/15) were the stars of the show with the ball.
The Sharjah Warriorz bowlers were left with a Herculean task, and unfortunately, they couldn't rise to the challenge. With the Desert Vipers' openers, Fakhar Zaman and Alex Hales, firing on all cylinders, there was little to no room for the bowlers to make an impact. The Warriorz' bowlers were taken to the cleaners, with the Vipers' batters dispatching them to all corners of the ground. It was a tough day at the office for the Warriorz' bowling unit, and they'll be looking to regroup and come back stronger in their next outing.
Chasing a modest total, the opening duo of Fakhar Zaman (71) and Alex Hales (23) made light work of the target, sealing the win without giving the other batters a chance to contribute. The Vipers scored 50 off the first 6 and if there was any ray of hope for a comeback that was dismissed with the way Fakhar Zaman and Alex Hales took the attack to Southee in the first over itself.
