Man of the Match
Reece Topley

Right then! England have returned the favor and absolutely dominated this tie. They came back strong to level the series and there is all to play for at Manchester. The action shifts to Old Trafford for the third ODI. That game is all set to begin at 3.30 pm IST (10.00 am GMT) on Sunday, 17th July. But as you know our build-up will begin much in advance. Do join us then. For now, it's goodbye!
Reece Topley is the player of the Match. He says it was a terrific team performance after the last game and he is happy to play his part. Says that it means a lot to come back from a long layoff and prove his ability. Says it is everyone's dream to play for England and says it's a privilege to be a part of this team. Adds that there is a big game on the weekend and hopes they can wrap up the series then.
Jos Buttler the captain of England says that he is delighted with this win and with the response from the team. Adds that it has been a bat-first kind of wicket and chasing has been tough, so they knew they had a chance. States that the partnership between Moeen Ali and David Willey was crucial. Mentions that they needed to take early wickets and put them under pressure early on. On Reece Topley, he says that he bowled brilliantly throughout the series, and getting 6 wickets was special. Says that they have not shown their best, but they are happy to put on a performance like that.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper says, he feels like they bowled really well and the partnership between Moeen Ali and David Willey in the middle overs was good but 246 was easy to chase. Says that if they want to win games they need to take catches and need to improve in that aspect of the game. Still feels it was a good effort to restrict a strong batting lineup to under 250. Admits that he thought the pitch will get better and says it took him by surprise but that said he believes they need to adapt to difficult conditions. Says he is aware that after they lose the early wickets they are short on options and have a long tail. Explains that against top teams they need to play 5 bowlers and 1 all-rounder and it is the responsibility of the top order to do the job. Says the final game will be exciting and it will be a quick turnaround so they need to see what they can do better to win that game.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the first innings, the English top order failed and their middle and lower order pushed them to a total of 246 which at that point most believed was not enough. The partnership of 62 runs between David Willey and Moeen Ali turned out to be a crucial one in the end for England. In reply, India failed to find any sort of rhythm on a pitch that seemed to act completely different. The English bowlers got the ball to zip around which helped them to demolish India's batting lineup. There were a few cameo's from Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja but they eventually perished.
England would be absolutely thrilled with their bowling performance! They outshone their counterparts and would be really proud of their effort. England began the innings on the right foot! They grabbed early wickets and put India under the pump instantly. They made sure they took wickets at regular intervals and kept the pressure on. Reece Topley was the leader of the pack as he ended with figures of 6 wickets for 24 runs and bowled one ball short of his full quota of 10 overs.
India began the chase on the defensive side. They played a couple of overs without scoring any runs before they lost their skipper for a duck. None of the batters seemed to really get in and kept giving away their wickets. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya tried to recover the innings but the hope was short-lived. India soon found themselves at 101 for 6. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami put on a small partnership but eventually delayed the inevitable for a short while. Overall they will be disappointed to be bowled out for a measly score of 146.
What a bowling performance by England and Reece Topley is the man to take six wickets in this game to get his side over the line. England level the series with a dominating 100-run victory! After a 10-win wicket win in the first ODI, India's batting order collapsed in this game. It's been a complete turnaround since then.
