Right then, that’s all we have from this lopsided affair, where Fortune Barishal breezed past the Sylhet Strikers to secure their place in the playoffs for the fourth time in their history. The road ahead looks even tougher for Sylhet, as even if they manage to win their remaining two games, it may not be enough to make the cut. But we're not done for the day yet. Up next, the league leaders Rangpur Riders take on Durbar Rajshahi. The first ball will be bowled at 6 pm IST (12.30 pm GMT). Join us early for the build-up. See you then. Cheers!
Tamim Iqbal, the skipper of Fortune Barishal, says that it is a good win where the toss was important upfront. Adds that the ball was doing a bit early on in the first inning. Tells that they want to finish in the top two to get an extra chance in the playoffs and now they are happy that they have made it to the playoffs once again. Mentions that he was surprised by the decision of Strikers to bat first. Tells that Mahmudullah is by far one of the best fielders this season and he is very fit for a 40-year-old. Says that when you try to chase these kinds of totals you know what you have to do in a partnership and they as a team have the experience of playing in these kinds of situations.
Faheem Ashraf is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his impressive showing with the ball. He says that this is not his personal best and he achieved the career-best figures of 6 for 19 while playing in the PSL. Mentions that the management pushes forward the plans and he goes out there and executes them. Adds that his personal plans have always been to keep it simple. Further mentions that when there is good support from the fielders, you always do well.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier, the Sylhet Strikers opted to bat first, but their batters failed to justify the decision. In their attempt to play aggressively, they lost four wickets in the Powerplay. Despite those early setbacks, they stuck to their attacking approach, which led to wickets falling at regular intervals. They were eventually bowled out for 116 in just 18.1 overs, unable to bat out the full 20 overs. For Barishal, Faheem Ashraf was the standout performer with remarkable figures of 5 for 7, the second-best figures of the season.
FORTUNE BARISHAL ARE THROUGH TO THE PLAYOFFS! A clinical chase led by the two veterans has guided them to a comfortable victory. With this win, Barishal become the second team to secure a playoff spot, joining the Rangpur Riders. The Strikers managed to grab a couple of wickets in the Powerplay, but that did little to create any real pressure. The experienced duo of Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim showcased their class in chasing down a low total. They were quick to punish the bad deliveries while smartly rotating the strike with singles and doubles to tick along.

Back of a length, around off, Tamim Iqbal looks to pull it off the back foot but he doesn't cover the line of the ball and it takes the top edge and goes over the keeper behind the wickets. Jaker Ali gives it a chase and throws it at the bowling end but Sumon has turned around by then as the ball rolls past him. The batters sneak in a second run but Ariful Haque isn't happy with this and he feels that the ball was dead when the throw came in. The two umpires get together and deem the ball to be dead when the throw came in. Tamim will stay off strike on 48.
