Adds that qualifying for the playoffs is a big achievement and they are pleased. Says that they knew they could defend 135 runs as their bowling unit was really good and ends by saying that they want to thank their supporters and they just love to play there.
Chris Green, the skipper of Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, says that they wanted to finish the season on a high but unfortunately, they couldn't. Adds that Ali's big over was the edge and they needed more runs as well. Says that it was a good challenge and it was really a big learning process for them. Ends by saying that they will come back bigger and better next year.
Moeen Ali is the Player of the Match. He says that he found it difficult in the middle to score but the pitch was difficult to bat on. Adds that he was looking to targer Imad and he backed his instincts. Ends by saying that the standard is too good here and he is honoured to play for Guyana.
Presentations coming up...
Earlier in the game, Moeen Ali's explosive performance in the penultimate over helped the Guyana Amazon Warriors secure a defendable total. Despite this, their batting underperformed and ended up with a below par total of 135. For the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, Amir showcased exceptional skill, while Hayden Walsh excelled as well. Imad Wasim bowled well overall but conceded runs in his final over.
Chasing a total of 136 runs, the Falcons struggled early, losing openers Brandon Kings and Justin Greaves swiftly. Kofi James was the standout performer, scoring 27 runs. Other contributors were not so good. Joshua James provided a late push with 15 runs off just 6 balls but fell soon and the Falcons were ultimately dismissed for 108 runs in 18.5 overs. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and that is what cost them the game.
That's it, the Guyana Amazon Warriors have qualified for the playoffs! What a display of bowling this was from the Guyana Amazon Warriors. With a low total to defend, the plan was simple, they had to keep on picking wickets and they did well. Gudakesh Motie and Dwaine Pretorius picked up the openers in the first 4 overs. Imran Tahir and Moeen Ali ran over the middle over soon. Moeen Ali and Dwaine Pretorius picked up three wickets each and were certainly the pick of the bowlers.
