Right then, that will be it from this contest. We hope you enjoyed the coverage. Do join in tomorrow for the final league stage game in the 2025 Women’s T20 League where the home side Mumbai will take on Bengaluru from the same venue. That game will start at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). But as you know, you can always join early for all the build-up. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Harmanpreet Kaur, the skipper of Mumbai is also the Player of the Match. She says that they bowled well in patches but credits the Gujarat batters for sensible batting and keeping the match alive. Adds that they need to learn from their mistakes and come back stronger. Shares that they got a decent total on the board and adds that the wicket here is good and any score is chaseable. Lauds Bharti Fulmali for her brilliant knock. Mentions that she uses the bowlers as per the match-ups and she follows the gut feeling. Says that they will plan well for the next game. Ends up sharing that she is happy with her batting and hopes to continue in the same way for the team.
Time for the post-match presentation...
Amelia Kerr, the leading wicket-taker of the competition, is down for a chat. On opening the innings, Kerr says that it has been a bit of a frustrating tournament with the bat for her and she just needs to value her wicket a bit more and hopefully, she can get the runs when it counts. Adds that they wanted to bowl first but the depth they have in the batting lineup is amazing and 170 was a total they looked at the halfway mark. Mentions that there is one short side and thankfully, she got a couple of overs where the leg side boundary is the bigger one and she tries to keep the stumps in play and says the biggest challenge for a spinner is to take away that power striking ability from the batters. On Shabnim Ismail, Kerr says that she is amazing and easily one of the best pacers in the women's game.
Ash Gardner, the captain of Gujarat, says that they knew it was a high-scoring venue but left a few runs in the field and could have got them down to about 160. Reckons that they knew they needed to chase it down in 18 overs to go to the top of the table but it is what it is. Mentions that a direct entry into the final is a safety blanket, but there are a lot of positives to be taken from this game. Adds that Kashvee Gautam is capable of opening the innings as well and admits that they haven't had that consistent opening pair but backing the players is what they want to do. On Bharti Fulmali, Ash says that they knew what she was capable of and it was awesome to see her taking on the game like she did.
Earlier in the game, Mumbai posted a competitive total of 179, thanks largely to Harmanpreet Kaur's half-century. The Mumbai batters, except Amelia Kerr, who fell victim to a run-out, made valuable contributions. Gujarat's bowling unit shared the wickets, with all bowlers except Meghna Singh and Deandra Dottin claiming one wicket each.
A heroic effort from Bharti Fulmali but it wasn't enough for Gujarat and they are guaranteed a spot in the Eliminator game as their chances of a direct entry into the final have been washed away. Gujarat would have liked a bit more from the senior pros up top as a few of them got starts but got out in the 20s and if someone from the top 3 or 4 had gone on to make a fifty, things could have been different. The lower order too fought well but Gujarat remain without a win against Mumbai.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur led the charge with the bat and got Mumbai close to 180 runs. With the ball, they started decently, but after the five-over mark, the bowlers managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals. Shabnim Ismail was the pick of the bunch but after her spell got over, the rest of the bowlers failed to rip through the middle order and it turned out to be a close contest. Mumbai did manage to hold on, thanks to a couple of experienced campaigners bowling the final two overs.
Wow, what a game of cricket! Two teams hunting for the top spot in the points table and this one went right down to the wire. In the end, it is Mumbai who inch closer to a direct entry in the final of the Women's T20 League and they have kicked off the home leg in style.

Flatter length ball, just outside off. Mishra looks to play the reverse ramp but does not connect. Mumbai have made a double review on the stumping and the LBW. The third umpire has a look and rules out the LBW call. They then check for the stumping but shows that Mishra is well inside the crease.

RUN-OUT! More drama in the game! Tosses it on a length, on the middle. Shaikh shimmies down and miscues it straight up in the air to the right of the bowler. Matthews goes for the catch but drops down the chance. Gujarat batters look to take the second run as Matthews throws the ball at the bowler's end and Tanuja Kanwer is short of her crease.
