Right then. That's it from the coverage of this game. The action in the Women's T20 League will return on 13th March when Delhi will be locking horns against Gujarat. The first ball will be at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but as you all know you can join us early for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye.
Ellyse Perry wins the Player of the Match award for her outstanding performance, both with ball and bat. She starts by saying that sometimes it just is your day. Explains how important this game was for them and is glad to get the better of Mumbai. Mentions she enjoys bowling a lot, and she has been working on it lately back at home. Adds she just managed to find the good length and is glad it worked in her favour. Talking about the chase, she states that Richa Ghosh's knock helped her to remain calm during a tricky situation.
Smriti Mandhana, the skipper of Bangalore is in for a chat. She says that the losing by a run is not a great thing but the team and the players, they way they came back today was a joy to watch. She adds that they were really comfortable and calm even after a good start by the Mumbai openers and then the way Ellyse Perry bowled it did everything right for them and in the end resulted in a big win on a crucial day. She finally talks about the bowlers doing things for them on an important night and how important it was for them to win the toss and bowl first.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Richa Ghosh now is in for a quick chat. She talks about her innings tonight and says that she held her shot in the start cause the wickets were falling down and when she got set, she started playing her shots. She talks about her previous innings being a very emotional one and she has gotten to learn alot from it.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of Bangalore says that Ellyse Perry bowled really well and they did not bat well at all. She adds that already being qualified gives them chance to test things out and change the way of play to see if we are comfortable or not but again gives credit to Perry for her impressive performance tonight.
Mumbai have always been knock for their fightback attitude, which they certainly did. They came into the run chase with the right intent despite the target being an under-par one. Shabnim Ismail and Hayley Matthews set the tone of the innings for sure, although it was some poor fielding that kept Bangalore off the hook. Natalie Sciver-Brunt was a part of two dropped catches, both off Shabnim Ismail's bowling. One might say she redeemed herself off that first drop catch, as she came into the attack and picked up a wicket instantly. Although, the second dropped catch, that too, of Richa Ghosh will continue to haunt her for long. Hayley Matthews was the only spinner for Mumbai who was able to find success.
Bangalore are coming into this game off a crest-fallen defeat, as they could not get over the line against Delhi and lost the game just by 1 run. Although, they believed in themselves and brought their A-game in their final group stage fixture. Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Molineux came out for the second time together in this edition of Women's T20 League. They did get off to a decent start, but both the openers were sent back in a jiffy and that might've have caused some discomfort in the Bangalore dugout, but Richa Ghosh showed her class once again, all thanks to that dropped catch from Natalie Sciver-Brunt when she was on just two runs. Well, in the end she did make them pay. Ellyse Perry provided with a solid support from the other end. These two stitched a stand of 76 runs which turned out to be a winning partnership as well.
DONE! GAME OVER! Bangalore finally come out on the right side of the result, and they couldn't have asked this victory to come at any better time as they seal their place in the Eliminator. Mumbai just could not capitalize with the ball in hand. They created opportunities for sure but could not make the most of it. Unfortunately, they will end the campaign on the second spot in the points table.
