Earlier in the game, MI Cape Town scored the highest-ever SA20 total this season, 222/3, thanks to strong performances from Reeza Hendricks and Dewald Brevis. The duo stitched a 142-run partnership, shifting gears beautifully after an early loss of wicket. The innings was briefly interrupted by rain after 10 balls remained, but MI Cape Town added 26 runs post-resumption. While spinners Will Jacks and Senuran Muthusamy bowled economically, the Capitals' pacers struggled, with Pretorius and Rogers conceding 69 and 54 runs, respectively.
MI Cape Town were confident with their ball as they knew that had a good target in from of them to defend. Rashid Khan was the main man for them as he chipped in with two wickets and was economical. Corbin Bosch picked two wickets while Delano Potgieter, Dewald Brevis and Trent Boult chipped in with one.
A convincing 27-run win for MI Cape Town as they top of the SA20 points table! Pretoria Capitals are out of the tournament with this loss. The Pretoria Capitals faced an uphill battle to revive their dwindling hopes of advancing in the SA20, requiring a nothing-short-of-miraculous performance to stay alive in the competition. They were off to a good start but kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Will Smeed played a good innings scoring 52 off just 36 balls while Will Jacks scored a quickfire 39 as well at the start.
