Earlier, MI Cape Town struggled to post a competitive total, managing only 158 runs. Rassie van der Dussen played a stellar knock of 91 not out, but received limited support from the rest of the batting lineup, except for Reeza Hendricks' contribution of 30-odd runs. The Paarl Royals bowlers did an excellent job, with the spinners inflicting the most damage. Mujeeb Ur Rahman took two wickets, while Joe Root and pacer Galiem claimed one each.
The MI Cape Town bowling unit failed to utilize the favorable conditions to their advantage, with only Trent Boult and Rashid Khan managing to take wickets. They did manage to get the game till the end but had they picked timely wickets, the game would have been different. They will look to leave this behind and bounce back in their next game.
The openers set the tone with a 50-run partnership inside the first 6 overs, with Lhuan being given a couple of lifelines that he capitalized on. Lhuan-dre Pretorius continued to play aggressively, putting together a 51-run stand with Mitchell Van Buuren for the third wicket. Later, Dinesh Karthik and David Miller combined to guide the team home without any hiccups. Lhuan-dre Pretorius was unfortunate to miss out on a century, having an unfortunate dismissal at 83.
A thrilling match comes to a close! Paarl Royals chased down a tricky total on a bowler-friendly pitch, thanks to some of their outstanding batting performances.
