ADIL RASHID IS GIVEN THE MAN OF THE MATCH AWARD! He picked up the wickets of Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma and Andile Phehlukwayo and was brilliant with his varieties. QUINTON DE KOCK IS CHOSEN FOR THE SERIES AWARD. He showed brilliant form with the bat and also led his team smartly.

It was a dismal show by South Africa! They started well with the bat but then lost their way in the middle overs. David Miller's blitzkrieg pumped their total past the 250-run mark but then their opening bowlers received a pounding. That diminished their chances very early in the run chase and from thereon, they played only catch up. Lungi Ngidi was a major disappointment however he redeemed himself towards the end with a 3-wicket haul. Beuran Hendricks and Lutho Sipamla showed good promise but they weren't penetrative enough. On a surface where Moeen and Rashid bowled so well, Tabraiz Shamsi failed to produce the magic and that in a way hurt South Africa's chances of a series win.

Chasing a modest total, England got off to a rollicking start with Jonny Bairstow firing in all cylinders. The required rate anyway was never demanding and after a brisk beginning, the scoreboard pressure vanished completely. They did lose three quick wickets after the opening partnership but then the stand between Joe Root and Joe Denly once again put them on top. Yet another solid alliance followed between Denly and Tom Banton and that put the chase 'nearly' to bed. There were a few hiccups with the target in sight but eventually, the expected result happened and England levelled the ODI series.

England have huffed and puffed to the target! It could have been a straightforward win after the partnership between Joe Denly and Tom Banton but both these batsmen got out in a quick succession followed by the wicket of Tom Curran. That stretched the run chase a bit but the victory for the world champions was never in doubt. Moeen Ali didn't panic and closed the match towards the end with a calm head.

Right then, England have a target of 257 to chase to save themselves from the embarrassment of losing their first series after the high of World Cup. The English bowling was on the mark for most parts. Every bowler was impressive, especially the spinners. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid combined for 4 wickets in 20 overs where they gave away just 93 runs. The pitch also assisted their type of bowling and they took full advantage. Towards the end, Chris Jordan received a stick but his initial overs were very accurate and tidy. A word of praise for Tom Curran who was brilliant at both ends of the innings. It came as a surprise that the debutant Saqib Mahmood was not given any over at the death.

After being put into bat, South Africa were going decently till the first Drinks break as Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma formed an alliance. But the picture changed completely in the next hour after that. Both batsmen got dismissed and Rassie van der Dussen also flopped. JJ Smuts played his shots but failed to convert his start into something substantial. With the African innings falling apart, David Miller took the onus on himself and stuck to the task of bailing the home team out. He formed a partnership with Andile Phehlukwayo but the one with Lutho Sipamla offered the real impetus to the Protean innings.

Killer Miller! What a striker! When he is on song, it's a treat to watch! In this Pink ODI, David turned up in full force. He started slowly but once he got his eyes in, we witnessed some clean striking from the southpaw. He brought the heat in this contest and South Africa have taken some great momentum towards the end of the innings.

Reveals that Lungi Ngidi comes back in as he replaces Bjorn Fortune. Feels that playing Pink ODI is a great occasion and hopes that the bad weather stays away and we get a good game of cricket.

Eoin Morgan, England skipper, says that the decision to bowl first is due to the conditions of the ground. Tells that the ground is good for chasing. Adds that the shorter boundaries will come into play during the run chase and one needs to be disciplined. Finishes by saying that Pink ODI is an exceptional cause and the players are highly motivated. Reveals that Saqib Mahmood makes ODI debut and Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid are the other two changes in the side.
