The iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) awaits a huge clash in the 2024-25 Big Bash League season and what a game we have on our hands in the Challenger. Sydney Sixers will take on Sydney Thunder for a spot in the Final against Hobart Hurricanes and a 'Sydney Smash' and probably the biggest knockout game of the season is a crowd's delight. It has been quite a journey for both teams and whereas the Sixers are kings of reaching the playoffs and even the final, the Thunder, under the leadership of a rejuvenated David Warner have shown tremendous promise even after losing a couple of crucial players due to injury. The Sixers finished 2nd in the points table and earned a place in the Qualifier game but they lost that one away from home against the Hurricanes and now have a shot at redemption. They have looked a bit shaky with the bat this season but do have an experienced lineup that knows the ins and outs of this league. Also, they did pick up a win against the Thunder early on this season with the reverse fixture being washed out later on. On the flip side, Sydney Thunder started the campaign brilliantly but did have a few hiccups along the way before eventually finishing 3rd on the points table, just a couple of points behind their city rivals. They had to come up against an in-form Melbourne Stars side but they managed to make light work of them in a do-or-die encounter and their bowling has really come up with the goods this season. They will be up against it though, playing against their city rivals and in the opposition's den as well but it should be a fascinating contest with neither team looking to back down. Will Sydney Thunder be back in the BBL final after a long time? Or will Sydney Sixers set up a revenge clash in the summit game against the Hurricanes? Only time will tell. Who are you backing for the win?
