Right then! That is all we have from this game. Australia and West Indies will face off once again in the second ODI. It is on 22nd July at 1430 Local (1830 GMT). So do join us for that. Till then, take care and goodbye!
Alex Carey, the Australian skipper, says that it was a special win for everyone. Adds that the 3 debutants performed very well. Says that they put on a competitive score and Ashton played a very crucial role. About his pace duo, says that when Starc and Hazlewood get going, it is very tough to play them.
Kieron Pollard, the West Indies skipper, says that they bowled quite well and it was a fantastic effort by the bowlers. About the batting, he says that he wants the guys to fight and let the bowlers work hard for their wicket. Adds that they didn't show that kind of fight and they have to find a way to deal with the new ball. Says that he wants to score against Australia and he is working hard to understand his strengths.
Mitchell Starc is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH, says that it was a special day as they had 3 debutants and Carey was captaining for the first time. Adds that they did really well in the Powerplay and it was a team performance. Says that he doesn't change too much when he plays white-ball cricket because his role is quite similar in T20Is and ODIs. Praises Carey for the way he batted and says that he was very calm.
Earlier in the game, Windies bowled quite well to restrict Australia to 252 in a rain-hit innings. Walsh was the destructor-in-chief as he took his first 5-wicket haul. While Joseph and Hosein took two each. For the visitors, their new skipper, Carey played a handy knock of 67 and was well supported by Turner in the middle overs.
The Aussies were ruthless with the ball. Starc took a wicket of the very first ball to set the tone. Then, the Starc - Hazlewood duo took 3 wickets each to rock the Windies' top order and had them at 27 for 6. There was some resistance offered by Joseph and Pollard with the skipper getting to his fifty, but Marsh took the wicket of Joseph to end that. Then, Starc came back for his second spell and got rid of Pollard and got to his 5-fer with the wicket of Hosein. The batting from West Indies was very poor, they lacked application and could not deal with the two-paced nature of the pitch. There were too many soft dismissals too. No one other than Pollard and Joseph, for a brief while, looked comfortable out there and they will be very disappointed with the way they batted.
A brilliant performance by the Aussies and they have outclassed West Indies. Their bowling was superb and made a decent score look like a mammoth one.

OUT! CAUGHT! Adam Zampa gets the last wicket. Googly from him to dismiss Hayden Walsh. Tossed up on off. Walsh tried to defend by getting forward. Got an outside edge and Alex Carey took the catch on the second attempt. The Australians are delighted. This has been a comprehensive victory for Australia as they completely outplayed the hosts. Australia win by 133 runs (DLS method)!
