Goes onto say that this is an awesome place to keep wickets but the ball wobbled a bit and that made it difficult.
Dean Elgar, the South African skipper, says that he is very impressed and it is a collective effort by the side. Adds that there has been a lot of planning. Says that everything worked for them and him as a captain. Tells that he is a firm believer that runs are important despite the conditions. Kraigg Brathwaite, the West Indies' skipper, says that the pitch had variable bounce and they did not bat well in the first innings. Goes onto say Day 2 had a little moisture but South Africa batted well. Goes onto say that South Africa had quality bowlers and they need to bat better. Goes onto say that there is not much to work on and they need to replicate what they do in the nets.
South Africa were upto the mark in the second innings as well. Kagiso Rabada led the way with a 5-fer. He bowled superbly and did not give anything away and was simply brilliant. Anrich Nortje was once again brilliant with the ball while Lungi Ngidi bowled well but to no reward. Keshav Maharaj too joined the party with his two wickets and in the end, it was a comfortable victory for South Africa. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony.
West Indies had a tall order to face in their second innings but they just disappointed again. Kraigg Brathwaite did not last long nor did Shai Hope, Kieran Powell and Kyle Mayers. Roston Chase was the only shining light for the West Indies in the second innings as he scored a fine 62 but that was never going to be enough as they folded for 162, giving South Africa an easy win.
South Africa's first innings was all about Quinton de Kock. Yes, there were contributions from Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen but the way de Kock played was simply superb. He started off slowly and once he realized that he was losing partners, he went berserk and scored a majestic 141 to get a lead of 225 which was a very good lead. He was well supported by Anrich Nortje who stuck around. For West Indies, Jayden Seales impressed with 3 wickets and Jason Holder finished with 4 but they did not ask enough questions of the South African batters.
After opting to bat first, West Indies were blown away for just 97 in their first innings. There was simply nothing from the batters and they simply crumbled against the Proteas' bowling. For South Africa, Anrich Nortje started it all as he blew up the top order with a 4-fer and then Lungi Ngidi cleaned it up with his second 5-fer in Tests and Rabada too did a very good job. That was the game right there.
A comprehensive win for South Africa! They have beaten West Indies by an innings and 63 runs. Dean Elgar's captaincy stint begins with a bang. Brilliant performance from the Proteas and they will be really pleased with the effort. West Indies, on the other hand, will be really disappointed with the performance and they need to make a comeback in the next game. They have been completely dominated in this game.
