Right then, that wraps up today's action from the SA20, where we witnessed an exciting doubleheader. In the first match, Sunrisers Eastern Cape dominated Paarl Royals, securing a convincing 48-run victory. Meanwhile, the second match gave us a thrilling contest, with Durban's Super Giants edging past Joburg Super Kings by just 11 runs in a nail-biting finish. Now, only one match remains in the group stage as MI Cape Town takes on Pretoria Capitals in Cape Town on 2nd February, Sunday. However, this match won’t impact the playoff race, as the four teams have already been confirmed. The first ball will be bowled at 7 PM IST (1.30 PM GMT), but make sure to join us an hour earlier for all the pre-match build-up, including the toss and playing XIs. Until then, CHEERS! ADIOS!
Keshav Maharaj, the victorious skipper of Durban's Super Giants ays that he is happy with that win and they owe it to themselves and the fans. Mentions that they saw characters coming through the players and that was very pleasing to see. Adds that just to see the individual guys stand up and put their hands up for the team is nice to see. Further mentions that what they did today, they can hold their heads up high. Adds that the powerplay was a lot better and the bowlers bowled superbly today. Mentions that the combinations are not going right throughout the season but kudos to the guys playing well in this season, he concluded.
Faf du Plessis, the captain of Joburg Super Kings says they hope that the injury to Donovan Ferreira is not that serious and they will need to assess him. Adds that Klaasen batted brilliantly and he has done that to some of the best attacks in the world and he put pressure on them in the death overs. Mentions that after the rain break, they lost momentum and he thought that it would skid on but it started to grip. Praises Noor fir his amazing bowling and says that he is the kind of bowler who can pick up wickets in clumps. Further adds that, they needed to bat a bit better in the first 10 overs and they could have been a bit more attacking after the break. Says that they did not play their best XI keeping an eye on the next game to keep the players rested and their minds fresh for the knockouts.
Noor Ahmad is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his super bowling spell. He says that the tournament is incredible and he enjoyed playing here. Mentions that he didn't have a good tournament but is happy with today's results. Adds that hopefully, they will come back stronger next season. Further mentions that he looks to bowl in rhythm and doesn't try to think too much. He ends by saying that it is a pleasure being the main bowler for the team and enjoying the responsibility for the team.
Time for the presentations...
Earlier in the game, Durban's Super Giants were asked to bat first by Super Kings and they put up a good competitive total of 173/4 on the board thanks to the power-hitting of Heinrich Klaasen at the end of the first inning. The star batter smashed 76 off just 47 balls, becoming the first player in SA20 history to cross 1000 runs. Wiaan Mulder also played a crucial role, forming a solid partnership with Klaasen. Super Kings' bowlers did well in the middle overs, led by Hardus Viljoen, who picked up two wickets. However, they leaked crucial runs in the death overs, which ultimately proved costly.
For Durban's Super Giants, the left-arm chinaman Noor Ahmad was the standout performer as he picked up three key wickets and turned the momentum back to his team. The bowling unit was disciplined throughout, except for a late onslaught by Donovan Ferreira, who took Maharaj and Naveen for 23 and 16 runs in the 14th and 15th overs, respectively. In a bold move, Dwaine Pretorius was brought on to bowl his first over of the match in the final over, and he delivered brilliantly under pressure.
The chase wasn’t good for Super Kings overall, though at first, their opener Leus du Plooy started with a boundary on the very first ball. However, nature had other plans as thunderstorms, lightning, and rain interrupted play, and the game was shortened to 16 overs only. After the resumption, Noor Ahmad made an immediate impact, dismissing both skipper Faf du Plessis and Wihan Lubbe in the same over, swinging the momentum in Durban’s favour. Super Kings’ inning couldn’t be able to gain any momentum from there as they lost wickets in a regular interval. Then, all-rounder Donovan Ferreira came in at number seven, smashed some unbelievable sixes, and ended with the fastest fifty of the season but he injured his back a bit at the wrong time and the target proved to be a bit too much.
Finally a victory for Super Giants after losing six matches in their last eight. They have won their first and last match this season and go back home by defeating Super Kings by 11 runs (DLS Method) here in a fiercely contested match where their revised target was 147 in 16 overs. While they head home with smiles on their faces, the Super Kings now enter the Eliminator on the back of a defeat. Surely, they will want to forget today’s night going ahead and just focus on that match which they will play against Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
What a match! Now we all can get our heartbeats to the normal level as we have seen one of the best thrillers of this season. Both teams showed great fights until the end but it has been heartbreaking for Donovan Ferreira and Joburg Super Kings as they fell just 11 runs short. But we gotta appreciate Donovan as he has tried everything and almost snatched a victory out of Durban's Super Giants' hands.

FOUR! A boundary to end but that will not be enough! Dwaine Pretorius pitches it up, on middle. Maheesh Theekshana backs away a bit and swipes it wide of mid on for a boundary. Durban's Super Giants win by 11 runs (DLS)!

Full and on middle, Tabraiz Shamsi blocks it out solidly as the ball rolls down the pitch and past the bowler. They cross. Shamsi jokingly gestures to DP - No Hat-trick for you buddy.
Tabraiz Shamsi is the last man in and will face the hat-trick ball.
OUT! TAKEN! Dwaine Pretorius gets two in two! He goes fuller and on middle. Lutho Sipamla backs away to loft it down the ground but fails to get any sort of timing. The ball goes high in the air and Junior Dala (Sub) from long on runs forward and takes it nicely. This is Durban's Super Giants' game now barring any extras. Also, Dwaine Pretorius is on a hat-trick now!

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Dwaine Pretorius strikes! That just might be the last nail in the coffin for Joburg Super Kings. This is on a hard length and around off, angling away. Donovan Ferreira looks to heave it across the line but only manages a thin outside edge behind. Quinton de Kock makes no mistake. Perhaps that injury was still playing on his mind. He walks off after a fantastic fifty and to a big applause from the crowd. 17 needed in 3 now!
