Right then, that is it from this one-sided affair where Desert Vipers keep their unbeaten streak alive by brushing aside Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. We have another match lined up in the ILT20 2025 as Dubai Capitals take on Gulf Giants. The first ball of that encounter is not far away. You can just switch tabs to enjoy our build-up to the same. Cheers!
Luke Wood is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliance in the field. He says that he has never won a player of the match award for fielding. Adds that the fielding coach has worked hard with all the boys and all the credit goes to him. Mentions that while taking that relay catch, he was just looking to catch the ball and hoping that the other player near him was up for it and does the rest, he concluded.
Sam Curran, the victorious skipper of Desert Vipers says that their batting was good and the spinners were impressive as well. Adds that the wind was blowing to the shorter side and the batters just kept coming to them. Mentions that there is a strong sense of familiarity between the coaches and players, and the team culture is great and enjoyable. Says that the boys are here for most of the season and they do not want to get complacent. Ends by saying that they have a rest day and then they will be back again.
Sunil Narine, the captain of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders says that they could have bowled a little bit better through the middle phases of the innings. Mentions that they could have backed the batters to go for it as well. Adds about the dimensions that you always look to attack the short side of the fence while batting and make the opposition batters hit the longer side. Concludes by saying that they still did a decent job with the ball.
Presentation Time...
In defense, Desert Vipers , aside from a slightly loose Powerplay, were exceptional with the ball. Luke Wood was outstanding in the field, taking four catches, while the spin duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Nathan Sowter claimed five wickets between them. The rest of the bowlers played their part effectively, with debutant Dhruv Parashar sealing the innings in style.
Earlier in the match, Desert Vipers put up an imposing total, led by a superb half-century from Alex Hales and a classy 49 from Lawrence. Late cameos from Sam Curran and Azam Khan provided the perfect finishing touches. For Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Jason Holder stood out with two wickets, while David Willey and Kyle Mayers contributed with one apiece.
Despite the early loss of Phil Salt, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders got off to a strong start, racking up over 50 runs in the Powerplay. Joe Clarke was particularly pleasing to watch, while Kyle Mayers unleashed some powerful strikes. The duo built a solid partnership, laying a promising foundation. However, the momentum shifted dramatically when both departed in quick succession, with Clarke managing to notch a half-century. What followed was a stunning collapse as they tumbled from 83/2 to 101/8, losing six wickets for just 18 runs and completely derailing their innings. Jason Holder added a few late blows to mitigate the damage slightly, but the effort was too little, too late.
DESERT VIPERS REMAIN UNSTOPPABLE! They notch up their fourth consecutive victory with a dominant display, completing a double over the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the process.

OUT! CAUGHT! IN THE DEEP! Fired in full and on the off stump. Alishan Sharafu opens up his body to access the leg side but pulls it uppishly straight into the hands of Sherfane Rutherford, who moves smartly towards his left, a couple of paces to take that catch around his mid-riff. And that's all for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders! They are bundled out for 140, and Desert Vipers win by 53 runs!

LEG BYE! Full and on the middle stump. Shahid Bhutta looks to hack it away towards the leg side but completely misses. The ball thuds onto the front pad and ricochets towards backward square leg for a single. There is a slight appeal from the keeper but of no real substance.

SIX! HIT NICELY! Floated up outside off. Alishan Sharafu shuffles across towards the line of the ball and slogs it over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie!

Loopy one outside off, turns away way too much.  Alishan Sharafu leaves it alone but not called a wide.
