Gulf Giants beat Abu Dhabi Knight Riders by 7 wickets

That's all from this match! The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders will look to chase down this target and secure a crucial win. Join us next for the International League T20, 2025 match between MI Emirates and Sharjah Warriors on February 2nd, 2025, at 10 am GMT. We'll be live an hour earlier for pre-match updates and buildup. Until then, cheers!
Daniel Worrall is the player of the match. Worrall is up for a chat and he says his partnership at the top with Mark Adair made life easy for him. Mentions that they have a good combination of left-arm and right-arm bowlers and this makes life easy for all. Reckons that the win was the most important thing for them.
James Vince, the skipper of Gulf Giants is up for a chat. Vince says it's job done with two points for them. Mentions that the side assessed the condition well here and played accordingly. Reckons that the reason for a slow start was not to give ADKR wickets early and they managed that well. Closes by saying that if they don't go through than it'll be a disappointing season as they lost a few close contests.
Sunil Narine, the skipper of ADKR is up for a chat. Narine says the opponents bowled well and made good use of the conditions early on. Mentions that he used Willey right at the top as he was looking for wickets right at the top. Credits Jason Holder for his all-around performance and says he provides the balance that his side needs. Closes by saying that he is looking to win the final league game of the season.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the day, Gulf Giants, batting first, managed to post a modest total of 123 runs. Unfortunately, their batting lineup failed to put up a strong resistance, with only David Willey and Alishan Sharafu showing some fight. The rest of the batsmen were dismissed relatively easily, with Chris Jordan and Mark Adair taking two wickets each, while Daniel Worrall, Blessing Muzarabani, and Tom Curran chipped in with one wicket each.
Despite a promising start, the ADKR bowlers consistently offered strike-rotating deliveries, releasing the pressure on the Giants' batting unit. A surprising tactical decision by skipper Sunil Narine was to not bowl Gudakesh Motie at all, despite having several right-handed batters at the crease. This move raised eyebrows, as Motie's left-arm spin could have potentially troubled the Giants' batsmen. In the end, only Willey (2 wickets) and Holder (1 wicket) made any significant impact with the ball.
In chasing a modest total, Gulf Giants got off to a slow start, but a solid partnership between Tom Curran and Erasmus turned the tide in their favor. Despite losing Vince and Cox in consecutive deliveries, which gave Abu Dhabi Knight Riders some hope, the duo's 70-run stand for the third wicket made the chase look easy. Erasmus top-scored for Gulf with a crucial 47, guiding his team to a comfortable victory. The slow start was forgotten as Gulf Giants cruised to a win, thanks to the Curran-Erasmus partnership!
